This area is considered to have the deepest gorges in the world. They are so narrow that the mountain walls are almost vertical and as the legend says a tiger escaped from the hunters jumping over it. The area is ideal for mountain and adventure lovers.

This is Tiger Leaping Gorge one of the wonders of China, where Jinsha Jiang River cut two high peaks of 5000 meters: the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and Haba Snow Mountain.

Yunnan is a province of China with nice weather all year, so if you wish to travel in the area you can choose any period you prefer. Anyway the best season for Tiger Leaping Gorge is June due to the heavy rains that makes the landscape more interesting.

• spend at least few hours in Dali; a little city with cobblestone streets and stone houses.

• visit the old famous city Lijiang and admire the water mills that mark the entrance in the city and in the night you can see a show of traditional music.

• 3 days should be enough for the journey to Tiger Leaping Gorge; the landscape in incredible and full of little villages to stop and rest. Fly back to Kunning from Lijiang.
