A summer holiday in the scenic landscape of Italy sounds like the most fun idea on the planet and indeed, it is. This World Heritage Site is actually a small cluster of 5 coastal villages namely- Corniglia, Riomaggiore, Monterosso, Vernazza and Manarola. Except Corniglia, all other towns slope towards the sea level which makes them a mesmerizing sight. However, Corniglia is probably the most beautiful of them all as it is established on a small cliff.

Cinque Terre attracts a lot of people who enjoy a quiet resort-like space where they can spend their holidays in peace. You can walk around these neighborhoods and explore the beauty of colorful buildings and apartments here. You will find a lot of boats lined up near the shore which are used for fishing in the nights. Nonetheless, the food joints here serve really fresh and delicious foods which would make you come back for more, every time. There are small caves along the coastline as well as some underwater rocks that would be catching your fancy and making you feel like you have entered heaven.

The region is usually quiet except for Vernazza, which is the heart of the exciting night life of the area. There are a lot of beachside restaurants that would certainly leave your taste buds delighted. You should make sure that you enjoy a starry night on the beach with a bottle of fine wine, probably the best experience that this region can offer you. You can reach Genova and Pisa by plane. Genova is also the nearest rail station of this region. You can also come by car if you want. Trains are the most popular methods of commute here.
However, if you really want to enjoy your time, then take a walk along the neighborhood. You would easily be able to walk through the villages even though some popular walking paths are now closed. Hiking is also very popular here. In fact, Cinque Terre is considered to be the best coastal hiking trail in the world. You can also see Manarola lighted Nativity, which is the biggest in the world. If you visit between May and August, then you would also be able to participate in the patron festivals of these villages. Pirate’s attack of Vernazza and harvest are the most popular celebrations of this region. If you don’t mind witnessing the power of nature, stand along a cliff and watch some mighty sea storms too.
